36Kr has announced its “WISE2025 Business King” annual honoree list, recognising outstanding leaders shaping the future of business and technology. Mr. Alan Chan, Managing Partner of Full Vision Capital and Executive Chairman of the TERA-Award, has been named “Annual Outstanding Technology Leader” for his forward-looking leadership in energy technology, deep expertise in technology commercialisation, and sustained contributions to cross-sector innovation.
According to 36Kr, the “Annual Outstanding Technology Leader” highlights individuals who have delivered tangible impact in scientific and technological advancement, particularly through enabling key breakthroughs or large-scale commercial adoption. The evaluation framework spans 15 core dimensions, including technological innovation, real-world deployment, commercial performance, and global expansion strategy.
With more than two decades of experience across finance, energy, and technology, Mr. Chan has consistently positioned technology-driven energy transition as his core mission. Under his leadership, Full Vision Capital and TERA-Award have jointly built an integrated innovation ecosystem that combines investment, application scenarios, and industry collaboration. This ecosystem focuses on critical areas such as next-generation energy systems, energy storage, and green fuels, accelerating the transition of frontier technologies from laboratory research to large-scale deployment and forming a closed-loop pathway from R&D to commercialization.
Through these efforts, multiple energy technology breakthroughs have successfully achieved scaled deployment, including:
- EnerVenue: Achieved a commercial breakthrough in metal-hydrogen batteries, ranked 18th among TIME’s prestigious list of the World’s Top GreenTech Companies of 2025.
- StarFive: Introduced the world’s first RISC-V based BMC chip, recognised in the EE Times Silicon 100, becoming the only China-based RISC-V company on the list;
- EcoCeres: Emerged as a leading SAF/HVO supplier in Asia and became the world’s first SAF producer certified under ISCC CORSIA. In 2024, its output accounted for approximately 20% of global SAF production, with customers including Cathay Pacific and British Airways;
- Luquos Energy: Launched the first sulfur-based flow battery demonstration project in China and has been recognised as one of the Top 20 flow battery startups globally for three consecutive years.
- i2Cool: Developed electricity-free cooling coating materials featured in “Science” and it’s now implemented in over 30 countries.
Under Mr. Chan’s leadership, the TERA-Award has been successfully held for four consecutive years, attracting nearly 2,000 startups from 76 countries worldwide. With a USD 1 million prize and sophisticated ecosystem spanning capital raising, technology incubation and application scenarios, TERA-Award has become a globally recognised accelerator for energy technology innovation.
Mr. Chan emphasised that the core mission of energy technology is “to solve real-world global challenges.” Against the backdrop of global carbon neutrality commitments, energy transition and climate governance have become shared challenges, and technological innovation combined with scalable industrial systems is essential to addressing them. Looking ahead, he will continue to leverage Hong Kong as a strategic hub, deepen collaboration between mainland China and global innovation networks, and accelerate technology deployment across key areas including next-generation energy, green fuels, energy storage, and AI × Energy. Through these efforts, he aims to build an open, sustainable, and globally competitive energy technology ecosystem, contributing long-term momentum toward global carbon neutrality goals.
