“TERA-Award” stems from the power unit “terawatt” (TW), equivalent to 10¹² (or 1 trillion) watts.
The six technology domains are: Green Fuels & Hydrogen Energy; Next-Generation Energy; Energy Storage & Conversion; AI x Energy; Energy Saving & CCUS; Smart Energy Systems.

To ensure a professional, fair, and impartial evaluation process, the competition committee has convened a diverse panel of judges comprising:
The detailed list of judges will be announced closer to the final evaluation stage to maintain confidentiality and fairness during the selection process.
Projects will be evaluated based on the following four criteria: innovation (30%), commercialisation (30%), technology maturity (30%), and talent capability (10%).
The TERA‑Award 2026 will present three main awards with cash prizes (no equity taken), along with several special recognitions:

Award‑winning projects may also be considered for investment opportunities or technology trials in real‑world application scenarios with the Organizer and strategic partners.

Yes. Applicants who have applied to previous editions of the TERA‑Award are welcome to apply for the 2026 edition, provided they did not receive an award previously.
We encourage returning applicants to highlight the progress and milestones achieved since their last submission—such as technology improvements, market traction, or new partnerships—to strengthen their application.
No. The award is open to all startups, regardless of their funding round or capital raised.
There is no specific format required for the corporate or company presentation deck. However, applicants are encouraged to structure their submission following the general framework of a business proposal.

Yes. Projects that have previously received awards or recognition in other competitions are eligible to apply for the TERA‑Award 2026. We welcome and value diverse achievements — applicants are encouraged to highlight how their project contributes to smart energy, sustainability, and decarbonization innovation.
No. Each application must be submitted under one primary technology domain. Please select the domain that best represents your project’s core innovation or main area of impact.
Non-finalist projects will still be reviewed and evaluated by our panel of judges and industry experts. The organizing team and partners may explore potential investment, collaboration, or pilot opportunities based on the project’s merit and relevance.
Additionally, all participants will be invited to join the TERA‑Award Alumni Network, gaining access to future events, networking opportunities, and visibility within the global energy and sustainability innovation community.
All applicants retain full ownership of their project’s intellectual property and data. Submitted materials will be used solely for evaluation purposes by the judging panel and organizing team. The TERA‑Award is fully committed to protecting applicants’ IP rights and confidentiality throughout the entire competition process.
